The office of Energy Advisory Associates is located in this experimental solar building in rural north Herefordshire. The project has been under construction for some time. It will be open to visitors from summer 2015.
Energy Showcase Project.
Viewed from the south-east, late in construction. Passive solar gains through the south-facing windows help to heat the house in winter. The glazed south roof collects solar energy in the form of heat and electricity. The rest of the roof is reclaimed Welsh slate. This visually complements the white rendered walls and has a low environmental impact. The gutters and downpipes are stainless steel. They should last as long as the house.
